Houston Police DepartmentA video widely shared on social media over the weekend captured the aftermath of a police chase in Houston’s Third Ward on Friday: a white pickup truck that landed on top of four parked cars after a crash with a convertible sent the vehicle airborne. The one-minute-long clip, captioned “The sh-t you see in 3rd ward,” was originally posted by @darius_herron on TikTok Saturday and has since garnered nearly 3 million views on the video-sharing platform.
In the footage, a shocked Herron is heard questioning if the driver, who appeared disoriented following the crash, is doing okay as police officers then approach the driver. Stunned passerbys are heard shouting in the video, one commenting “That happened so fast!” The convertible is seen blocking the street in the background.

On Twitter, where the video has nearly 7 million views, user @davenewworld_2 wrote: “I hope the city of Houston releases all the traffic cam footage they have of this accident because holy sh-t, what a disaster.”
Per a report from ABC 13, an officer on patrol in the area turned on his lights and followed the pickup truck after spotting the driver speeding on Emancipation Avenue. HPD Lt. R. Wilkens described it to ABC 13 as “almost a car chase – sort of.” The driver fled, allegedly turning around and winding through side streets until he ended up on Wheeler Avenue where he ran through an intersection and crashed into a convertible. This launched the truck onto the parked cars, which were empty, police told ABC 13.

The man driving the pickup truck and the woman driving the convertible were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police tweeted. “He is in custody. It doesn’t appear that the truck was stolen,” Wilkens told ABC 13. “He does have city warrants. He also has a lengthy criminal history. You name it. He’s done it.”
