New video released by Lake Worth police this week shows the moment a drunk driver tried to flee the scene of a crash that killed an off-duty police officer and injured his family. The video shared with MySA shows a bystander chase the drunk driver, named Dylan Molina, and tackle him to the ground.

Molina, 26, is seen in the video stumbling around at the scene of the November 2021 crash in Lake Worth, outside of Fort Worth. He is seemingly anxious as he puts his arms behind his head before taking off on foot toward the person taking video. A man in a light blue polo T-shirt takes off after Molina, who can barely keep his footing.

Molina doesn’t get very far before he falls in the grass and the man chasing him tackles him into the ground as Molina struggles to get back up. That bystander is named Justin Gonzalez, reports Fort Worth station WFAA

“You f***ing killed somebody you motherf***er!” Gonzalez yells at Molina as he pushes him into the grass.

Molina was intoxicated and driving at high speeds on November 27, 2021 when he ran a red light and struck the vehicle driven by Alex Cervantes, according to a news release. Cervantes was killed while his wife and two children were critically injured. Molina’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

“I was on his tail. He wasn’t getting anywhere,” Gonzalez told WFAA. “I think about what happened every day. I was there for a reason for that day.”

Molina was sentenced to 15 years when he plead guilty to intoxication manslaughter in late January. Molina also plead guilty to three intoxication assault charges, which equal 10 years per charge.
